BTEC 294: Career Success-More than a Class, The End of the Journey

The course description for this class is misleading. It talks about how BTEC 294 helps to prepare you for the pursuit of a business technology career. It also mentions how it is concentrated on things like self-assessment, searching for a job, and successful interview techniques. This is all misleading because it never mentions that this is one of the most important courses you will take as a BTEC student at Lower Columbia College. It doesn’t mention how you will put together a new job search portfolio spotlighting your job training skills and retraining successes. It doesn’t explain that Sue Bennet, the instructor, does a great job of wrapping you up as a student and sending you off to be a success in your search for a new job in Cowlitz County. It also neglects to mention how, after you have gone through this course you will realize how much you have learned and how much your skills for a new career in Southwest Washington have grown while at LCC, which is really the most important reason for taking this class. The knowledge and self-awareness realized in this class is what will give you the confidence to accomplish your goals. All in all, this class is a great experience and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
