Ever wanted to take a typing speed test but not sure where to turn?
Lower Columbia College offers a self paced course specializing in typing practices for those who want to brush up on their Keyboarding skills. I took the course BTEC 110: Keyboarding with speed and accuracy during the Fall Quarter and I was not disappointed! I was finally able to practice touch typing without tears! I liked the course, it was self paced, and every “level” you build up your speed with typing and accuracy. The course offers the ability to talk with your instructor via Zoom meetings! I am able to type over 56 words per minute which is a major improvement compared to my typing skills before. This course teaches you not only to type faster and more accurately, but the course also teaches you how to use symbols and numbers associated with the keyboard, as well as a personalized skill building plan for it’s users. The real amazing thing is; is that you can continue to go back and re-challenge yourself and see how far you have learned! I recommend this course to anyone who struggles with the Keyboard and typing. If you are thinking about taking a course that is personalized, self paced and builds touch typing skills, for anyone to do even kids, then I suggest this course!

Keyboard Typing Course:
I chose BTEC 110: Keyboarding Speed and Accuracy 1. This course is a typing class. Keyboard typing is really useful and important in this generation because with technology taking over, it helps stay in the “now”. It is based around helping you build speed and knowledge on the keyboard. It teaches you where the numbers and symbols are, and helps you learn the keys without having to look down at them. I chose this course because I thought it was the most interesting of the courses, and I also used to take typing lessons when I was in elementary school. In the library we would have one day a week where we had to do lessons on the computers. I think this course is helpful because many people spend way longer on assignments than they should because they are looking down and searching for the keys. This course can help them gain speed and allow them to move on quicker.
