Microsoft Word Course: Essential Tool For Business

BTEC 45, also known as Introduction to Microsoft Word I, is a 3 credit, online course offered at LCC. Taught by Nadine Lemmons, it offers students the ability to become familiar with Microsoft Word, and its many functions and applications. These skills are near-essential in the current business landscape, due to the rapidly digitizing nature of the modern workplace. Now that I’ve gotten my thesaurus-referenced paraphrasing out of the way, I can get down to the meat and potatoes of this post: My thoughts on the class.

I, personally, think this is a fantastic class, that teaches an invaluable skill, one which is transferrable between workplaces and career fields and will serve you well outside of the workplace too. I, personally, have not taken the class, however, this is because I’ve been using Microsoft word, and the other Office applications, since fourth grade, and am rather confident in my skill with them.

However, for someone who is a little older than me, and did not have that exposure to the various Microsoft or Google products, This would be a valuable and worthwhile addition to their quarterly load. When paired with other classes like BTEC 46 (Powerpoint Fundamentals), BTEC 50 (Introduction to Google Applications), or BTEC 131 (Introduction to Spreadsheets), one could turn themselves into a master of office technology in no time at all. Below, you’ll find the link to the LCC BTEC course catalog for this semester, where you’ll find all the classes I just mentioned and many more.
