The Keyboarding Speed/Accuracy, or BTEC 10, course at Lower Columbia Community College offers an introduction to typing on a computer keyboard. Additionally the course offers opportunity to learn “the alphabet, number, symbol, and 10-key numeric keypad.” This course will create a foundation on which students can simultaneously increase accuracy and speed which will lead to increased typing proficiency in both personal and professional settings.
While I have not taken this particular course, similar typing course appear on my transcript. I was able to type but it took hours to get anywhere. After taking a course in high school and later on just after entering college, it created a wonderful platform that accelerated my ability to crank out assignments at a much faster pace. This too carried over into my professional environment when typing emails, reports or general use. I would highly recommend this course for anyone unfamiliar with or looking to enhance their typing skills.
